Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Heat a dutch oven or other large soup pot over medium heat. Once hot, add olive oil. When oil is warm (30 to 45 seconds), add diced onion and crushed garlic.
  2. Saute 6 to 8 minutes, stirring frequently, until onion begins to look translucent. Add crumbled sausage and use a spatula to continue breaking apart as it cooks, 3 to 4 minutes, or until most of pink is gone.
  3. Add spices (salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, crushed fennel seeds, Italian seasoning and bay leaves). Stir to toast, about 30 seconds.
  4. Add Pacific Foods Organic Crushed Tomatoes. Bring to a gentle boil and immediately lower heat to a simmer. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for at least 20 minutes (longer is OK). Taste, adjust seasoning if necessary and serve topped with fresh basil. Enjoy!
