September is National Harvest Month and for good reason. At our founder’s farms, we’re still harvesting all sorts of goodies- tomatoes, peppers, beets, cucumbers…the list is never ending! And, fall crops are just beginning. Our pumpkin patches are growing bigger every day and we can’t wait to see what the greenhouses have in store for the winter.
In honor of National Harvest Month, we’ll be joining other foodies, chefs and artisans from all over the Northwest next week at Feast Portland. Feast is a celebration of Oregon’s bounty, showcasing locally-grown ingredients and Portland’s culinary talents, alongside nationally recognized chefs and influencers. At the heart of the festival is a mission to end childhood hunger in Oregon and the rest of the country. That’s why this year we’re a Gold Sponsor at Feast; we’re excited to join in on all this fun for a good cause!
During Feast’s Sandwich Invitational, we’ll be using locally-grown fresh veggies as toppings and ingredients in our gazpacho. Our Roasted Red Pepper & Tomato Soup, the base for the gazpacho, is made with organic milk, fresh from our founder’s dairy farms. As if gazpacho weren’t delicious enough on its own, we’ll also be topping it with a homemade cilantro crème fraiche, straight from our founder’s dairy farms.
And, what better way to share Oregon’s bounty than with Oregon-grown hazelnuts? Our Chocolate Hazelnut Non-Dairy Beverage (always made from Oregon hazelnuts) will be the star of a Coffee Chocolate Hazelnut Pudding and a Mocha-Nut Smoothie. One serving will hardly be enough. Luckily, we’ll have plenty on hand.
