New Year’s Day can always be a tricky one, after tons of sweet drinks, champagne and a huge amount of rich snacks it calls for something rich and comfortable. A Bloody Maria made with Pacific Foods Organic Vegetable Stock and canned tomato sauce seems to be the perfect fix. Serve with a huge platter of Huevos Rancheros for the perfect brunch to start the New Year without a hangover.
Mix together tomato sauce, Pacific Foods Organic Vegetable Broth, water, lime juice, seasonings and tabasco in a large pitcher. Stir to mix and set in fridge covered for up to at least 4 hours. It’s like soup, the longer it sits the better it tastes.
On the day of service add 1 shot of tequila per glass, and a few ice cubes then fill to the top with juice. Should serve at least 4 people.
*A little note on garnishes* Garnishes are great to stir your drink, give you a break from the alcohol flavor, or something to play with so you can ignore the other people in a bar. Garnishes are not intended to be a small meal on a stick standing up from your drink. 1 stalk of celery, a wedge of carrot, an olive or two, or a squeeze of lime and you are in business. If you are having people over, I've always found it to be better manners to feed your guests a meal, not a filling garnish! I really like carrot in this drink because it does the job of celery, but gives your guests a clue that this might taste a little different than a Bloody Mary.
